Kagan’s “Flags” Unfurled

A big thanks to the Nippertown blog for their glowing review of “Flags: Variations on a Theme.”  This revived body of work was put on exhibit at the Arts Center of Capital Region in Troy for the monthly Troy Night Out arts walk.

Artist Larry Kagan tells quite a number of glorious stories with his small, but potent exhibition, “Flags: Variations on a Theme,” a collection of exquisitely rusted metal wrestled into equally fine, unfurled forms.

It’s vintage work – created between 1980-83 – but several of the pieces presage the highly imaginative, eye-popping, smile-inducing, mind-bending play between metal, light and shadow that has established Kagan as a major Nippertown artist.
